The Best Outdoor Summer Toys of 2021, ages 2-7

As soon as the weather finally reached 65 degrees I started making plans for outdoor play and activities for my two toddlers. I have a three year old and an almost six year old who both love water so I knew we needed to find great outdoor water toys. Well, between the kiddie pool, water table and splash pad, we are set!

If your kiddos love being outside–never met a toddler who didn’t–then take a look at what’s keeping my tots entertained these days. I found everything I was looking for on Walmart’s website and had it all shipped within two days pretty quick! We had a budget of $100 for water toys, which isn’t a bad investment for entertaining toddlers all summer!

#1 Little Tikes Spiralin’ Seas Waterpark Play Table

best water tables for kids

Last year my son had a water table we had acquired for free and although it was just the table, no accessories or extra play parts, he loved it. So this year I knew it would be money well spent to buy a brand new one.

This water table best fit our budget (under $50), while providing several fun ways to enjoy it. It has a spiraling tunnel in the center for dropping little colorful balls (included) and watching them roll around the funnel and into the water. It has three other little gadgets and spinning parts that work in a number of ways, actually promoting critical thinking too.

#2 Intex Rainbow Ring Inflatable Pool/Play Center

This pool is just big enough for two littles to think they’re at water park, but not so big that you’ll have a hard time with the upkeep of it. The measurements of this inflatable pool is 117″ X 76″ X 53″, and it is advertised for Ages 2+.

It has a water slide, water sprayer that you hook your hose up to, ring toss game and a ball roller game! A lot of things to keep kids occupied!

#3 Sprinkler, Splash Pad Toy for Kids

I love taking my kids to the splash pad at the park, but they can get crowded and dirty! This is such an affordable, fun alternative to that. Hook up your water hose and you have a cute, wild splash pad at home!

This particular one is non-toxic, BPA and phthalates free and comes with a 12 month warranty!

#4 SwimWays Baby Float Activity Center with Canopy

I believe this was the BEST float ever invented for little babies and infants. It is a round or oval shaped float that babies can sit in. The water will come about chest high, but they won’t tip out of it. It also has a little shade canopy with UV protection!

I just bought Jolene one (a different character than this one) to have at the pools this summer since we lost Jake’s in our last move. As a mom of two who love water, I highly recommend this float for pool or lake time!

#5 Step2 Sit and Play Kids Picnic Table With Umbrella

My friend actually has this picnic table meant for kids and it is just too cute! It’s perfect for eating lunch outside while enjoying a day in the sun with water toys!

The parts snap together so no tools are necessary to assemble and the umbrella can be removed to bring the table inside too.

#6 Lifetime Geometric Dome Climber Jungle Gym

I don’t have this either, but when searching for cool toys for kids for outside activities, I couldn’t pass this up! My yard isn’t level or else I would definitely want this for my kids who love to climb!

At under $100, this is a wonderful way to keep kids occupied during the summer. Read more about the climbing gym here.

#7 Waterproof Storage to Keep Loose Toys in!

My husband and I quickly got tired of picking up all the pieces and parts to the outdoor toys and trying to find the right area, bag or box to keep them in. So we decided an outdoor storage bin was the best choice.

This outdoor storage bin is around $70, which considering that I can just throw everything in here and be done at the end of the day, it was worth the cost! Plus, its waterproof, durable and even blocks our back porch staircase! Another perk to this storage bin is the top lid can be used as a bench to sit on and can hold several hundred pounds.

The summer doesn’t have to be spent lugging children around town looking for fun things to do. That is tiring and expensive! This year I’m investing half the money and much less of my own energy to keep my kids happy and occupied. Here’s to Summer 2019!
